It all started with the annoncement "Metall Holz Ton Glas" / "Metal Wood Clay Glass" in 1995. The artistical handling with different materials were the center of this exhibition in the yard of the Thon-Dittmer-Palais. Fingerprints on the invitation cards mark the beginnig of a journey. The first traces were left behind.
In the following year 'light-boats' signalized the track for the ones interested: "-ausgesucht und angewandt-" / "-selected and applied-" /(1996). Works made of wood, clay, metal fabric and glass.
Gegensätze / Extremes (1997) and the following exhibitions relate to a topic developed by the participating artists: "Up and down" and "back and forth". A basical topic of life was picked up and a dialogue between the works of arts and the observer was ignited.
In 1998 with N°.4 the exhibition established as an institution and demonstrated a fantastic selection of artistical works.
Travellings and changes characterize the route of the artists and underline this with their exhibition TraumZeit / DreamTime (1999): They dared to step into the unknown …
Immersed themselves in Blau / Blue (2000) the artists presented their objects. In a joint project the yard of the Thon-Dittmer-Palais was veiled with blue fabrics hung up on steelwires.
In 2001 they performed Gedankensprünge/ Mental Leaps acoustically enhanced and with a task for each visitor: To continue a line of words on an almost endless sheet of paper.
Inspired by the mental leaps the topic of 2002 is Bewegung/Movement. Accompanied by a group of dancers the artists attested their vitality and mobility with their objects of art,
A gleam of hope – a remote goal at the end of the path - that's how one could interpret Horizonte / Horizons (2003). "I kissed the horizon" and a sunflower field in winter conveyed the widening and clearance of the path as well as the imagination of hope and warmth.
By now the joint projects have become a main part of the exhibition- In 2004 Die Neunte / The Ninth dedicated itself to a game with the extraordinary and symbolic number nine. With nine columns covered with plexiglas marked with black letters the artists pointed a way for the developement of the ninth year of the exhibition. |
