There has been an Arts and Crafts Christmas Market in Regensburg since 1982.

We named the Christmas Market “Lucrezia Market” in accordance with an old traditional myth. The white lady Lucia, had a custom of going from house to house with her garland of lights, bringing light to everybody at this dark time of year.

It has therefore become customary for the Lucrezia Market to light up the Advent period with its garlands of Christmas lights on Haidplatz every year. And on the Kohlenmarkt the Lucky Dragon throws its lights on Regensburg and its visitors.  
 
So Lucia stands as a symbol of contemplation and warmth for our Christmas Market, the lights and glow of which have shone far beyond Regensburg for many years already.
